Project description

The "International Virtual School at AGH" project is characterized by:

  • internationalization - adaptation of summer / winter schools existing at AGH UST into 4 intensive international training programs in English with the participation of foreign students / doctoral students from SIT, TU, HUMG and IFNTUOG;
  • flexibility - the project is carried out entirely in the remote formula;
  • attractiveness - each course contains 30 hours of unique specialist content in the field of environmental engineering, drilling and geoengineering, basic problems of energy, surface engineering and material analysis, and 15 hours of elements popularizing Polish culture and promoting Poland;
  • intensity - the course will be held continuously, 180 hours.
Problem analysis:
  • suspension of cooperation with foreign universities and a decrease in the number of foreign students in connection with with the COVID-19 pandemic (including the organization of summer and winter schools at AGH UST). The program gives the opportunity to conduct IVS online and maintain long-term cooperation. 
Project goals:
  • maintaining long-term cooperation with the above-mentioned partner universities from Japan, Nepal, Ukraine and Vietnam;
  • increased interest in the educational offer at AGH UST among foreign students and doctoral students and their participation in education programs;
  • extending the offer of courses, implemented by AGH UST in a remote formula;
  • greater availability of online education - disabled and excluded people;
  • promotion of Polish culture and Polish heritage as well as educational opportunities offered in Poland. Planned results, ways and means to achieve them:
  • extending and improving the quality of AGH UST education offer in the remote formula;
  • increasing the competences of employees (remote learning) thanks to participation in training in the use of UPeL.
Benefits of implementing the project:
  • maintaining cooperation between AGH UST and partner universities in the field of summer / winter schools;
  • participation in IVS will enrich the student's experience and knowledge, increase his attractiveness on the labor market, and develop his knowledge about Poland;
  • strengthening the cooperation of specialists from AGH UST and the partner universities will result in further initiatives.

Polish National Agency for Academic Exachange

NAWA is a new institution that was established on October 1st, 2017. It is set up to coordinate state activities driving the process of internationalization of Polish academic and research institutions. The mission of NAWA is to foster the development of Poland in the area of science and higher education.

Objectives and directions of NAWA’s activities in the period 2021–2027:

  • enhancing international cooperation of scientists within the Polish system of science and higher education
  • enhancing international cooperation of Polish universities and scientific institutions
  • increasing the number of outstanding foreign students at Polish universities
  • disseminating information about the Polish system of tertiary education and science

AGH University of Science and Technology

The university was established in 1913 and opened in 1919. 

AGH UST is a modern Polish university that actively participates in the building of a knowledge-based society and the creation of innovative technologies.

The university has a well-established position in the country and is recognised abroad. Experienced staff, advanced laboratories, a unique campus, and, above all, the bonds that connect the AGH UST community are our greatest assets.

 Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Ukraine https://nung.edu.ua/en

Since its establishment in 1967, the university has been known for preparing qualified and experienced specialists for the oil and gas industries. However, it has expanded to offer education in economics, management and law that is directly related to the needs of energy industry.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oil and Gas University has a two-pronged approach toward education of its students: in the classrooms and in the field. In the classroom, students are provided the theoretical knowledge. Then, by working at university "field-classrooms" or by holding internships with regional businesses and organizations, the future specialists gain practical experience.

Tribhuvan University, Nepal https://tu.edu.np

TU  is a public university located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. Established in 1959, TU is the oldest and the largest university in Nepal with approximately 3.5 lakh students. The college offers 1000 undergraduate and 500 postgraduate programs across a wide range of disciplines. Additionally, the institution has 62 constituent campuses and over 1080 affiliated colleges across the country.

Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, Vietnam https://humg.edu.vn/en/Pages/home.aspx

HUMG was established in 1966 on the basis of the Mining and Geology Faculty of Hanoi University of Technologies. Alumni from HUMG are highly appreciated for capability and professional skills in the key sectors of the Vietnamese economy such as oil and minerals exploration, geodesy and cartography, and (underground) construction, etc. The university has a total number of academic staff of 700 with nearly 80 professors, and 154 senior lecturers. With highly qualified academic staff, HUMG has built a reputation in research activities and applied knowledge in earth sciences and related areas in Viet Nam.

 


 The projects are implemented under the program of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange - SPINAKER - Intensive International Education Programs. The program is financed from the non-competition project no. POWR.03.03.00-00-PN16 / 18 "Supporting the institutional capacity of Polish universities through the creation and implementation of international study programs" under the Knowledge Education Development Operational Program.
